Playoffs

One year I went to the play offs with my summer baseball team. I played in the Lorain Youth Baseball League. My team was together for about two years. The prior season we were the leagues worst team due to our amount of players who lacked experience. That year we placed last in the playoffs. The next season we wanted to do better so we got rid of the players who did not try in the previous season because they did not want to play. We thought our players who had little experience what they needed to know in order for them to strive in the game. During the practice weeks we held long practices until we did the drills right. When we went into the playoffs that season we took third place. Our success was established by our hard work and dedication towards a better season. After that season I became close to a lot of those guys and I still hang out with them to this day.

My Unusual Weekend

Most weekends I stay home and help my dad with a multitude of projects around the house, although on some weekends I go out with my closest friends and cousin. While at home I'll be working on different rooms of the house fixing it up. On the nights that I am out with the guys we mostly drive around towns, go bowling, or really anywhere. With these to activities taking up my schedule I do not have time to watch every football game on Saturday, although I always have time to watch The Ohio State football team. While this past weekend an unusual thing happened. My dad decided not to work on the house, and i did not go hang out with the guys till later. With my Saturday freedom I was able to watch a multitude of college football games. It felt great to just sit down and enjoy one of the best sports in America.

Best Football Game Of My Life

One time during this football season we played a Cleveland jv team towards the end of the season. When we arrived at the field it was covered in snow from endzone to endzone. The coach told us to get our uniform and pads on, and then he told us to head out to the field. As soon as we got on the field he made us do up-downs, but me and my friends took it to another step and slid through the snow stomach down.
During the game i played offensive tackle on the o-line. My job was to protect our quarterback, but one time these to guys tried to attack my spot together inorder to get the quarterback. Luckily my friend next to me seen the defensive formation and was able to pick up the closer of the two guys. This left me with one guy, so i grabbed his shoulder pads and drove him into the ground. This was the day i was able to protect my childhood friend.

Annoying Habit

As a human being I have many habits, although I am not to fond of all my habits. There is one particular habit of which I have mixed emotions about. Which is my stubbornness. Being stubborn is second nature to me. An example of the downside of my stubbornness is that even though I sometimes have trouble in school I try and figure it out on my own. I rarely ask for help if I am not getting something mostly in part of the fact that I do not want people to see me as a weak or needy person.
There is an up side to my bad habit that I do enjoy. To me being stubborn makes me more independent and capable to with stand anything. I feel more motivated and confident when I am stubborn because it gives me a new extension of stubbornness. That extension happens to be the fact that I don't give up on things that I want or need, which just so happens to be my favorite trait about myself.

Importance of Art

Art is an important aspect of my life because it allows my creative side to come out. Art gives me the time to express myself  and show others the artistic side of me. I enjoy drawing and sketching it relaxes me. To kids and teenagers the ability to express themselves is all they need to grow and develop their own personality. Adults do not always understand the need for art because they are almost always trying to force kids to act a certain way due to their personal opinions. For example, adults tend to get their children to try and mature to early in order for the kids to be successful in their parents eyes.

Perfect Career

In today's society the world is ruled by money. When I get older what I eat, where I live, and how I live will all be determined by the career I have and the amount of money I make. In a perfect world where money was no object I could have any job that I could want, although I would still choose the same career.
The job I would have in a perfect world is the same one I want in this screwed up world. I want to be a Sports Medicine Physician when I graduate. I want to be a Sports Medicine Physician because like I said this world is screwed, and I have wanted to be a doctor since I was five in order to help people. A Sports Medicine Physician combines my desire to become a doctor, with my love and passion for sports.
Now my dream career is not just to be a Sports Medicine Physician, it is to be one for The Ohio State's sports programs. I want to be able to help athletes play the sports they love safely. I want to improve the world of sports by keeping athletes to their full health in order for them to play their hardest.

Baseball Is The Key To Life

What is a hobby? Some people refer to their hobbies as a way to pass time. My hobby is more than a way to pass time, its is a way of life to me. Baseball is my number one hobby to this day. Baseball is a personalized sport, which means I can put my own spin on things. I love baseball so much that I keep a ball and two gloves in my car at all times.
Most people find watching baseball boring, which is the exact opposite of how I feel. For me I find it entertaining to watch all the plays made in a game. I could watch baseball games all day long, however the true thrill of the game is playing.
Baseball is my identity, when I am on the field I feel as if I could do anything, be anything, and succeed in anything. With out baseball I would be nothing, it is like taking the stares out of the night sky. My goal in life is to play at the college level for The Ohio State University. Later in life I would love to be a sports medicine physician for The Ohio State University athletic programs.

Daily Regrets

Everyone has things they regret and wish they could change in their life, even though I feel as if I make more than others we all make them. A couple of things I regret that would change my life if they had gone another way are things such as going to open gyms for baseball before try outs. Another thing I regret is putting my iPhone in my backpack at football, which allowed it to be stolen.
Now I have made a lot of mistakes in my life nut what I regret the most is not spending as much time with my great uncle like I used to. I regret playing football instead of going over his house like I did as a kid and having the best times with him. Sometimes I wonder if maybe losing him so fast would hurt less if I had spent more time with him to know how bad he was. Losing my uncle at the end of last school year was a tough blow to the head and heart. If he was still around I would feel more complete and normal. All I know is I will never regret the time I spent with him ,or the countless hours I spent helping him. Even though thinking about the times with him brings back the pain with it comes joy.

Values Aren't Just Values

In life everyone has their own set of values, but mines a weird combination. I value many things which include family, even though family is valued by many, mine goes deeper than normal. To me family is not measured by just being related, when there is a massive family like mine then family is measured by closeness. I have nine uncles and three aunts who all have about three kids but more than half my uncles have five or more kids, that is just on my moms side. With a family like that I have to measure family by closeness especially with more cousins coming out of the woodwork every couple of years.
Another thing I value is life and taking chances. I sometimes ponder what happens when we die, but the truth is I would rather spend my time living life to the fullest than thinking about death. This is why one of my mottos in life is "Try before I die". To me this means that if I have a chance to do something in life I should take it and have that experience before I die. I want people to look at my tombstone when I am dead, and know that I tried my best and lived my life to the fullest.

My Amazing Summer

This summer has been a fun one. I went and hung out with friends I have not seen in awhile. I had a weekend were I went to Kalahari for a night and two days with all my little cousins, as well as my immediate family. Then two days later we all went to Cedar Point, and it was fun to see all my little cousins smiling faces. Although that weekend was fun, my favorite event of the summer was baseball season. Baseball is my life, and it saddened me when I went into the season knowing that it could be my last. That is unless I made the high school team, of course. In baseball I learned how to play first and third base, however my favorite position to have learned was catcher. I believe, there are two major thrills in the game which both revolve around home sweet home... plate. Batting is fun but the true thrill is being under that mask and being able to see that field for what it really is. A home away from home, a place that I receive the most joy in life.

To Understand Me First You Need To Know My Name!!!!!

Sometimes I have a big ego and think of myself as a gift from God. I mean my name is Matthew which does mean "gift from God". My name was passed down to me from my dad like a family heirloom. His parents named him after the Saint Matthew from the Bible.
My emotions about my name are mixed. One, my left side brain is not happy with the name Matthew because it is a very common name. When I think about it I know at least ten other Matthews. The right side of my brain believes that my name fits my personality. The name Matthew is commonly known or associated with a very athletic, nice, caring guy. Matthews are jokesters who love to have fun and are sometimes seen as over confident. I believe that Matthew is a perfect fit for my personality. This is how I feel about my name.

My Number One Unwritten Law!!

In life there are many unwritten laws that dictate us on how to live our day to day lives. One unwritten law that is important to me is the rule to stay true to myself. The meaning of staying true to myself is sticking by my morals and beliefs in life. An example of staying true to myself is: being around a group of people who make a decision and, either I make the decision to do the same thing as the group or maybe I disagree with the group, but I make the decision off of what I feel is right. When I stick to myself and my morals I ultimately become the person I and others are proud of. This is my most important unwritten law of life that anyone can learn to follow and use in their everyday lives.
